Using the notes we took in class, draw a DETAILED picture in your composition book of the setting from "All Summer in a Day." It should include vivid details (all of which should be in the notes we took in your composition book), color, and labels.
Students received 8 new stems today. They defined a word for each in class. Tonight they should write a sentence for each.

Complete the rough draft of the Monument Argument essay. You should use the checklist to see what you are still missing. We will have 15 minutes to work on these in class tomorrow. The rest will be on your own. Final drafts are due on Friday, November 15th.
Write sentences using each stem:
cede (go) miss (send) biblio (book) homo (same) spec (look) fer (carry) pend (hang) micro (small) **If you do not have a thesis statement written and approved , make sure it's ready for tomorrow.** 1) There is a novel test on Monday. It will cover all ten chapters of From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.
2) I will be collecting the notes that the students have been taking as they read. They can be in the form of actual notes on paper, post-it notes taped to a piece of paper, or notes in their actual book (I will collect the book and return it). **This should not be any actual homework for the students over the weekend IF they have been keeping up with it all along.** 3) First week initials will be checked on the November reading log on Monday. |
